What wines do you offer?
We focus on estate wines, and offer several varietals and blends depending on each year’s crop size and characteristics. In reds, we grow Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Pinot Noir. In whites, we grow Albariño, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Vidal Blanc. From time to time, we might make a bit of peach wine, using the fruit from our own orchard.
Who owns Antietam Creek Vineyards?
George Warmenhoven and Joan Larrea, husband and wife, are the proprietors. See “Our Story.” George works full-time at ACV, both in the vineyard and on the winemaking side, ensuring quality at every step.
What seasons is your tasting room open?
Due to the rustic nature of our barn, we’re not fully insulated from the elements in our tasting room, and thus must close for the winter season. We usually wrap up our season by mid-November, and open back up in March or April.
Who makes the wine?
Our owner George works with Jason Burrus, a consultant winemaker, to produce all our wines on-site. Learn more about Jason and our winemaking process on his blog.
Was any of the Battle at Antietam fought on the property?
Not to our knowledge. AP Hills’ troops camped on our fields, and the fighting reached to within a few hundred yards of our boundary line with Antietam Battlefield National Park.
Do you deliver?
We can deliver to Maryland addresses in Washington, Frederick and Montgomery Counties. Minimum order: two cases.
Do you sell food?
Not regularly. From time to time we invite our favorite barbecue trucks or other food vendors, and we’ll be sure to let you know when that happens. Otherwise, we invite you to bring your own picnic and stay a while. We’ve got picnic tables and endless green grass, if you want to bring your own lawn chairs or a blanket.
Are you dog-friendly?
Sure, we love well-mannered dogs! Please be respectful of other guests, who may not be interested in sharing their meal or blanket with your dog. Please leash your dog around children. And please clean up after your pet. In short, try to be considerate.
Do you like cyclists?
Yes! We are cyclists and runners ourselves. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements in advance if you’d like to start a ride or run from our place. We will ask that your group make a minimum purchase, which seems like a win-win. After all, don’t you agree that you’ll deserve a nice bottle of wine after your trek?
Do you allow tour buses?
Can I book my wedding/corporate event/party at Antietam Creek Vineyards?
Yes! Please contact us at email@example.com. We’d be delighted to help you plan the perfect event.
Can I buy your wine in stores?
Not at present. We have a limited stock, and prefer to offer our wines on site.
